I really gotta stop doing food reviews!! One of the reason I blog about restaurants is so I remember what/where I ate…you’d be suprised to know how many times have I revisited my own blog when I run out of ideas on where to eat…or what to order. The same goes for recipes, keeping track is hard work!
However, I don’t actually need posts to remind me of how good Hansa’s is. Hansa’s is a southern indian vegetarian restaurant – it seems like all southern indian restaurants are vegetarian for some reason! Growing up with south indian food, the rich and creamy nothern indian food that is prevalent in the UK gets sickening sometimes – I can’t stand the creaminess anymore. I yearn for good ol’ southern indian spice laden curries….and pooris, thosai….you get the drift.
I love Hansa’s because they do a Sunday lunch buffet which is really, really good. I am not a vegetarian-lover, but Hansa’s makes me and bacon very, very happy. I happily give up the meat for Hansa’s.
On their sunday buffets, they usually do two curries, a yummy pilau, delicious bhajis, freshly fried pooris, another deep-fried snack and a wide selection of salads made from beans, peas, beetroot, cucumber ect ect..it really is quite delicious.

This is bacon’s plate – he loves them salads. He is a closet vegetarian, really – however his wife is of a different opinion
.

I laden up on the bhajis…they had slices of onions, potatoes and aubergine. I love deepfried aubergine, and no one does it better than Hansa’s. Last Sunday they had chickpea curry and potato curry…my all time favourite of theirs has gotta be the pumpkin and courgette curry. Curry selection changes on a weekly basis – we know that cos when we first started going to Hansa’s we were there for three weeks in a row. Yumm…

And my all time favourite pooris. I distinctly remember having pooris as a kid – l loved the puffiness of the pooris when it’s fresh out of the deep fat fryer…and then you squash it down with a large helping of curry.
At £8.50 per person, it is not the cheapest meal on earth, but I would rather eat here than go to a regular nothern indian curry house that serves meat. Huh, never thought I would say that. The only issue is……vegetarian food gives you bad wind.
.
Writing about it is making me hungry…damnit..
