Nasi lemak is THAI??!!

I subscribe to Tiger Beer UK’s newsletter as they have competitions, coupons ect…below is part of the newsletter that I receive today:

nasi lemak

SERIOUSLY….WTF!!! Nasi Lemak is as Thai as fondue or sauerkraut is English. For a beer brand that claims to be ASIAN, this is UNFORGIVABLE. Absolutely UNFORGIVABLE. I am so angry..how can the PR department be so IGNORANT? I won’t even be pissed off if they claim it to be Singaporean, but I have never ever ever ever seen Nasi Lemak being sold in Thailand before ever. Hey, even the name gives it away; in Malay Nasi=Rice Lemak=Cream. In Thai? kâa-wá-săan gà-tí (courtesy of thai-english translator)

I WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER TIGER BEER AGAIN. EVER.

hateu tiger!!

I need a beer now…

URGH! TOTALLY!

I am so shocked by the ignorance of these PR ppl. A quick search on Wiki would promptly provide them with some “facts”. In addition (bcos i’m so incensed by this!) i have written into tiger beer re this.

Typical biased liberal media…………..

But that said- I could use a week in Phuket.

BTW Why drink Tiger when you are in the land of really great beer?

They replied my e-mail :

Hi Tsu Lin,

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention, and for reading our newsletters so thoroughly!

Please accept my greatest apologies for this mistake – we realised our gaffe soon after the email had been sent out, but unfortunately by this time it was too late.

We will be making an apology in our next newsletter to ensure this diish is attributed to it’s rightful home.

Sincerest apologies and kind regards,

I didn’t see her offering any reimbursement for that shocking & traumatising mistake made. Glug glugg! :P

Tell me if they do what they say they will?.

skipps: I could use a week in Phuket as well…and to tell you the truth, tiger is one of my least favourite beer, I think it sucks, even before this incident :) . I will never drink it by choice..so it wasn’t too hard for me to swear off it for life!

tsulin: The response sounds so cheerful its unreal…yes, will keep an eye out for the next newsletter and let you know…cheers

This is an insult. I am a Nasi Lemak fan. I think I should write to Singapore media especially the tiger beer PR over here. Btw, tiger beer is national beer for Singapore. In Thailand, also have coconut rice but not Nasi Lemak.
