ponderings
It is pathetic, but day 3 at home and I am feeling progressively depressed. Maybe its the weather, maybe its the non-occuring of anyhting exordinary, but this is probably the one trip I sort of wished that I was back in the UK. I kinda knew coming here that I’m going to be slightly depressed, maybe it’s a self-fufilling prophecy. The economic downturn have really reared its ugly head, and there are just so many people who are sorely affected by this. Companies retrenching, clients not paying back their money, all hiring frozen…the list goes on. It doesn’t look like anyone are even able to leave their jobs (if they have one) as there are just no new jobs going.
When the going gets tough, it gets really really tough. Unlike the social security world of western societies, the government here couldn’t be bothered less if you are penniless, jobless and homeless. So there. This just increases the level of criminal behaviour…everywhere I look, the suburbs are now graced with security guard huts and huge barriers to add as a deterrent to the opportunistic robbers in these times of turnmoil. The funny part is that the people’s representative even commented that because of all this mini-securityland blossoming, robbers are going to target those that have yet to fork out to have their area guarded 24 hours- namely, the house that I grew up in.
So many thoughts floating inside my messed up head that I really should sieve through before even trying to put them into context.
Oh well. Things should perk up abit as I head off for some much needed R&R next week, and the week after we’ll probably be heading up towards Singapore…I feel the need to get bacon out of the country, even though he did say that he didn’t mind staying inland as long as we get to F1 this weekend. He’s now sat outside with the ipod Touch on sudoku with a beer in his hands, waiting for me to snap out of it.Bless..

I have been awake since Friday morning at 7am. It is now sunday around 11am and I am STILL AWAKE!!!
OMFG. Help me.
I should probably add that I had moved time zones as well, and my first flight left at 6am on Saturday morning, therefore the sleepless Friday night. I have no idea when am I going to fall asleep next, if at all. This everlasting being awake moment is making me very, very depressed. Then again it might be me on a caffiene high
And welcome one and all to Malaysia, the land that claims to be ‘truly asia’. I am here for the next 3 weeks with no definate plans, so watch this space on my blogs on nothing at all. Bleurk. I need sleep. I promise I will be better after..

This post is really for Skipps, after his many requests….and seeing that it was his birthday earlier this month that I’ve completely missed! However, pictures are not really good, due to me refusing to turn on the flash. And not many too – for some reason all I could think of last week was drink drink drink and drink….therefore when we headed out on the bus on Saturday I couldn’t wait to throw it all back. I don’t really crave for drinks here, but last week I was craving drinks more than food! So there.

We were at a multitude of places…first there was the walkabout, the pseudo-Australian pub chain that plays rugby and serves kangaroo curry. As watching rugby to me is as alien as watching a rain dance, I toodled around with the wi-fi whilst getting progressively drunk by myself.

That bloke in red with the beanie on his head? Supporting Wales, (it was some sort of cup thingy between Wales & Ireland) he got so pissed off when Wales valiantly lost that he threw his GLASS pint towards the front and stormed off. Beer went everywhere, and glass was completely smashed. It was a suprise that no one was hurt….he stormed off before people realised it was him. What a TWAT.
Other places that I didn’t take pictures of were the Cuthbert Brodrick , the Courtyard and something something….seriously, I was chasing that drunken feeling and could be bothered less where we were! However, the night was swiftly put to a stop when we realise that the last bus was fast approaching (credit crunch means no more taxis!) .

I had the Triple Chocolate Beer….it was absolutely disgusting.Eew.
Well, not before a last stop at the Scabby Taps (officially known as the Scarborough Hotel, although don’t actually know if you can actually rent a room there). This is one of Leeds surviving old skool pubs…I will (promise promise!) do a review nearer to summer when it’s nice outside and I get to visit all the lovely old-man pubs in Leeds…Did get couple of pix there though of the usual suspects…

Believe it or not, I was actually still very sober…going on Whiskey & Diet Coke means I can go for hours…bacon, however, was painfully drunk. Not then, the next day

No, they don’t know I blog, thus they have no idea their pictures are here….:D
All in all, an excellent night out – marred by the fact that we had to head back at 10.15!! We DID start drinking at 5pm though…but I really could do with about 5 more drinks. BurP.
Watch this space for the summer retro-Leeds Pub Crawl!!

No, am not ignoring the blog, but have been painfully sick with a winter bug…i replied to drey’s msn message about 24 hours after she sent it with a pitiful, “yes, we should go and eat seafood”.
I’ve got loads of posts in the pipeline, but this will majorly depend on how much time am I going to be at work finishing up my last few days!
So hang in there!

Bonus day has arrived at last. Hallelujiah.
Perfect timing – on the day that I am close to boiling point. At the risk of sounding conceited, I must say I throughly deserved this after all that I have done! Now, let’s just see if I am able to command the same joy in pay rises…at the rate everything’s going to pot, this will be the last of the bonuses…I don’t think there’s going to be any more money coming that direction! So in memory of the last of the bonuses, money was well spent on the iPod Touch. Last year I got myself a Wii…I think that’s the perfect way to spend some of your bonus money, on something that you can have fun on and basically de-stress from the job that provides you with the funds to get it!
I’m starting to feel married to my work. I’m not sure if that’s such a bad thing.
