Sea pass with Herpes and Lope Star

The shithole of the hotel we stayed in had three restaurants, the regular restaurants where you go for all your meals, a seafood and an indian restaurant. We were given coupons to eat at the Indian and Seafood restaurant once in our stay when we checked in..both promising excellent meals…apparently. Liars.

This was the menu from the seafood restaurant – recognize the Herpes?

You don’t even have to guess what I ordered!!

This, was the infamous calamari with Herpes. Wonder which part of it is the herpes? Unfortunately it looks nicer than it tasted – completely bland, I think it was this dish that gave me the shits for 10 days with running temperature.

And this, was the Sea Pass…when they said grilled, what they meant was battered and panfried into squares. Again, believe this was part of the meal that made me so violently sick that I seriously thought I needed the hospital. I would have chosen the LopeStar if it wasnt for the fact that they wanted to charge an extra EU25 for it.

This was bacon’s Egyptian Tagine. You would think it means that they would be cooking the fish IN a sauce…not battered and deepfried AGAIN. Nothing spectacular at all.

The only thing amazing was the view

When we went in (30 mins late) the waiter arrogantly asked us what time it was and what time did our receipt said. I have never had service this rude before in my life, so asked him is this a problem or does he have a problem. Being the arrogant bastard he is…just see how full the restaurant actually is. The couple pictured actually came in 2 minutes before us and got the same telling off from that bastard. Think he just wanted to finish early and leave.

Without a doubt, worst restaurant in the whole wide world…I don’t think they can get it more wrong if they tried!

Do I get to say “I told you so.”, now?

You used the “s” word and that has always been my description of Egypt-and that even applies for going through the Suez Canal.

skipps: YES! BUT it was the nearest place offering sun & surf for me – a 6 hour flight! I honestly could not stop thinking about what you said when I was there…but to be honest, going to Israel at that time wasn’t such a bright idea as well! Even if Malaysia did recognize Israel as a country!

Oh I know-but I have spent too much time in that S***hole to ever be objective about it again. Did you look at Tunisia?

Comment by Skippy-san 01.07.09 @ 5:15 am

skipps: No, but apparently Tunisia is similarly bad. Not the sickness, but the rip-off culture. Bacon’s been to Tunisia – hired a tourguide who at the end of his tour demanded more money before he would bring him out of the maze they were in! Bacon didn’t pay as he knew the way out…stupid isn’t it?

I’ve been sick on holidays, but this one definately takes the cake. Spoke to a colleague who had been 3 times – she was sick all three times. Don’t think you stand much chance if the doc says that 90% of people on hols there are sick!

Maybe I am just turning english – that was the ONE holiday where I yearned for english food…good ol’ overcooked veg and gravy!

Summer’s coming-maybe we could see pix of you at Palma de Mallorca! I know some good bars there if you decide to go. I’ve probably been thrown out of most of them…………………
