The meaning of busy

I now get what busy is.

Busy is working triple hard, not having time for breakfast, lunch and leaving work at sunset. Busy is having my breakfast yoghurt at 4.30pm, and taking 2 hours to finish my lunch of soup due to my constant attention to the keyboard. And busy is not having the time to monitor this blog, or jobhunt. Or pee for the matter of fact.

Just a quick update on the jobfront. I’ve accepted the secondment last week, with the agreement that if I do find a permanent role I am free to go. Not sure if i’m liking it, but it’s definately testing my knowledge, skills and expertise to the maximum. My skills not only completely transferred to my new role, it is challenged and expanded. Personal growth and all that. And looking at the recent economic happenings in the UK & US with crashing banks , the financial services industry had not been this busy since forever, not even the crash of the housing markets in the US or the start of the credit crunch in the UK with the downfall of Northern Rock. Everyone’s really afraid of redundancies and the like – everyone except me.

I’ve been dealing with joblessness for such a long time that I am seriously not bothered. In my opinion as long as bacon looks pretty steady career-wise I can’t be bothered with the fact that I’ve been made redundant anymore. So it’s really bizzare that all everyone can talk about at work is potential redundancies after the recent upheaval in the financial markets. I honestly cannot emphatize, because it’s just another day in my like. So welcome to my world!

Not that misery loves company, but I’ve dealt with the whole situation for the past two weeks that nothing ruffles my feathers anymore. Just funny how everyone’s so afraid of what might be, I am already there!

On the lighter side, this weekend I’m learning how to sew! Yes, like totally grandma like. I believe in being well rounded, and learning to sew doesnt mean that I am going to be making all my own clothes ect – it just means I can now sew a straight line!

The hard sell v.2

Last sunday we again did the craft market route – this time in Leeds City centre. I was initially assigned a 1/2 stall (I only paid for 1/2 stall anyway), but protested when I realise the person who was sharing my stall was selling earrings for £1.50 – the usual crapola earrings available world wide. So yeah, two weeks in a row where I paid for 1/2 stall but got the whole stall! But to be honest, its looking likely that I would eventually need a full stall.

Hmm…still space for more display units. Will be doing that for the next one…and just pray that I still accidentaly get assigned a full stall!

My south sea pearls collection. I changed the clasp to toggle-styled to give it a modern twist. Yes folks, pearls are no longer for grannies! Well, not mine anyway

The whole pearl corner

I like the effect of draping the table with sarong…the red brings out the black undercover as well. It’s not easy setting up a market stall you know!

My new product – knitted hair slides and brooches. No, I did not suddenly learn how to knit, but I did hand sew the sequins and fixed the slides and brooches to the back! Love em…on sale for only £2.50 cause I’m cheap like that. Just got more in, this time they will be crocheted instead of knitted.

Hmm. I made less than the week before, but to be honest, I expected to do worse. It was enough to pay for an early dinner for me and bacon. So I guess it’s not that bad. Not like I’m going to retire anytime soon, but hopefully they will do a good job of promoting the next one which is going to be indoors. With any luck business should be brisk. Now, I need to go back to the drawing board and get more stock in…three months and counting to christmas..falallalaa—-lala—lalaaa!!

Dell inspiron 1525

Welcome the new member of my family…

DSC00538

Dell Inspiron 1525 (Blossoms design)
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2390@1.89GHz
RAM: 2.00GB
146GB HD

A pre-Christmas present from bacon as the compaq has decided to die on us. I’ve really missed my old purple Dell inspiron laptops which had literally burned out (I accidentally burnt it with a lightbulb)

DSC00539
Meet the blossoms design. Reminisice of my old Y2k inspiron, this spanking new design is shiny and pretty. Not to mention purple! As a person, I don’t really like the color purple as it looks horrible on my clothes-wise, so it’s pretty strange that my laptops are all in purple!

DSC00541
See how even the wallpaper is the same design as the cover!! How matching! Yes I know, how girly.

Not had time to play around with it yet as I’ve just got back to work to find it in my postbox, but aesthetics wise, oh-so-pretty!!! I am a lifelong Dell lover, and I believe that this new addition will meet my expectations.

cons: It only comes with Vista, and its a pain in the ass!!!

Back @ the Leeds arts market scene

Yeppers…am back in the scene. After my last market where the organisers did not spend a penny advertising it ( the whole place had about 10 stalls and a total of 30 visitors in the three hours), I am glad to say that the good people at artsmix did very well in getting press…read more about it here.

I’ve not been in the local arts market scene for nearly 2 years. But tought times calls for tough measures, so I am back in the market scene. However, September is probably not a good time for arts market – there was so much attention but there are just no one spending any money. Its too early for Christmas and too soon after back-to-school/summer holidays spending. I did make a slight profit -but just not enough. Hmm…I really hope the business will pick up nearer to Christmas with my soon-to-be expanded product range

stall@pudsey
My stall. I was only supposed to have half a shop, therefore the lack of items that is on display. There was a couple of people who did not show up – therefore me spreading out. I will be diversifying as well and getting more stuff in like hair barrettes, bracelets ect..

earrings display
My professional looking display. It stocks 125 earrings, and its still not enough. I need more…..I am still keeping my old display units for intricate designs.

My fave!! I was really annoyed at this – everyone olod and young stopped to stare, smiling and touching them as well. But no one bought any. NONE. OMG. Horrible. I don’t think £5 is very expensive for them – I would buy it for £5 myself. Again, it might be the credit crunch, it might be the start of school. The good part is there was a number of enquiries asking if we’re back nearer to christmas..makes me think that it will be much better nearer to christmas.

I will be holding court again this Sunday, this time at a Leeds city centre location instead. If you are in Leeds, pop down to say hello at Chancellor Court from 11am-4pm (14th September). After this weekend I will be taking stock, and will only be starting up again end October. C’mon now, come get your sparkley bits!!

According to the Beeb, your music style provides an insight into your personality. Check yours out, and let me know…mine is actually quite true. Apparently, one of the most surprising things is the similarities between fans of classical music and heavy metal. They’re both creative and at ease but not outgoing.
