With the explosion of the sushi bars and ubiquitios Japanese restaurants in KL, I had always been a fan of Jap food, with my regular visits to Zen whenever I get back to KL. Yummy. So it was a really nice surprise that I found somewhere semi-authentic to eat here in Leeds.
Yo Sushi is one of the best sushi bar in the UK – ableit a chain, but I love it all the same. I have tried others self-standing Japanese restaurant (Si Sushi, which the sushi chefs were actually fighting and swearing in a mix of malay& cantonese&Mandarin = Malaysian sushi chefs!). I never seem to like any others, and always return to Yosushi for a fufilling and happy meal

It also runs really good deals like 50% off all sushi – and that is when me and harajukucat descends on our local Harvey Nicks like flies to a rotten watermelon. This time around did not manage to attack with the cat, but brought the outlaws for their first taste of merry-go-round raw fish.
Of course, I started them off with un-raw food, which I quite like myself.

The ubiquitious teriyaki chicken
After all that ‘fake’ sushi bar food, it was time for more adventures. Alas, even though they totally enjoyed the deepfried stuff, they were still a little reluctant to go for the sashimi stuff which I love..:( .

Tataki toro with coriander & lime

Tataki salmon with sesame seed
And to finish off, I had 3 (it was free refills) of lukewarm miso soup. Yes, lukewarm is never good, but I am not good with hot soups/drinks, so lukewarm is really good in my case

Anyone with a hankering for jap food in the UK, please give YoSushi a go. They have branches all over London, Manchester ect, even odd ones out in the Middle East and Paris
Give Yo a Go!

They are the same mob as Yo Hotel right? I like their sense of style. And the food looks good. But they are not in Leeds right?
Comment by mooiness 01.31.07 @ 10:44 amcorrect! it’s Yo Everything!

Yo Sushi is suprisingly in Leeds; ableit in Harvey Nichols, which is the prada-CD-gucci-miumiu crowd’s haven.
Comment by sourrain 01.31.07 @ 10:53 amI think you mean Yaki where you have listed tataki. Yaki means to fry or sear, which what yaki toro is. Same with yaki sammon.
Re: the miso soup. I am assuming that unlike a real sushi go around, they did not have a hot water dispenser at your table? In Japan they have that for your tea. As the S.O. taught me, you can also use it to warm up the soup.
What program did you use to change your blog over to a unique domain if you do not mind my asking? How do you like it?
Comment by Skippy-san 01.31.07 @ 3:31 pmDamn, came so close! Was discussing with dreybee the names of the diff dishes. What about yaki udon-seared udons?
is tataki raw then?
I am currently using wordpress.com.I love it, it’s fairly easy and user-friendly, although you might get slightly confuse when fiddling around with the template – it is not as simple to fiddle around as blogger.
as a plus, it also imports posts from the old blogger.
re miso soup; yes they had a water dispenser in every table. However, it only dispenses cold water, still or sparkling! Strange!
Comment by sourrain 01.31.07 @ 3:47 pmTataki means half cooked, I think.
Yes, I love wordpress. That’s why I migrated from multiply which unfortunately, does not allow me to migrate
Oh well..
Correction on “wordpress.com” – that’s the free service, like Blogger. You are using the self-installed version from “wordpress.org”.
Cha Bor, you should be consider to work as a food critic.
